Really. No, really. This is how I’ve been spending my semester abroad.
I’ve also been eating heaps, if you’re interested in reading about that.
Super cool nerds!

You guys, I’m like a legit food blogger now. You should all head here to uh, ‘experience’ just how legit I am.
Also, hi there. I’ve missed you these past months.
16/08/2011 - nachos: guacamole, flavoured rice, corn chips, olives, salsa, beans, jalapenos, white cheese sauce + banana +diet coke + black coffee (half caf / decaf)
description: dinner. had just come back from walmart; decided it was time to eat something substantial.
location: PAR dining hall.
final rating: 7/10, would eat again.
And feelin’ like a grown-up, because.
This carefully narcotized James Drake mashup mix almost makes too much sense.

breaking my tumblr silence, just to pass this on. ‘carefully narcotized’ is an understatement; this thing’s the baddest, wooziest thing i’ve heard in a month (granted, i haven’t actually listened to a great deal this past month. so like, pretty much anything could be the ‘baddest’ and ‘wooziest’ thing i’ve heard).
also, think i’ll be back in a fortnight. maybe a bit more. hiding in a makeshift fort made of A3 mindmaps, textbooks and empty coffee cups stacked five high. ROTE learning like a mo’frugger, frug.
let’s hide together on twitter, yeah?

i haven’t been around much lately. you might’ve noticed— most likely, you haven’t cared much at all. to shorten an already short story; i’ve been busy preparing for this.
excuses aside, just wanted give you dudes a heads up. i’m pulling a vanishing act. i’m telling you this because vanishing acts are more impressive if you’re expecting something (or someone) to disappear, and it’s always nice to let people know things in advance. i won’t be gone for long though— a few weeks, tops.
i’ll still be around on twitter or last.fm, if you’re interested in talking. i’ll be back on tumblr when shit is done, or when the weather gets cold enough to warrant staying in and reblogging shit for days.
see you in a few,
n.
Nobody tells this to people who are beginners, I wish someone told me. All of us who do creative work, we get into it because we have good taste. But there is this gap. For the first couple years you make stuff, it’s just not that good. It’s trying to be good, it has potential, but it’s not. But your taste, the thing that got you into the game, is still killer. And your taste is why your work disappoints you. A lot of people never get past this phase, they quit. Most people I know who do interesting, creative work went through years of this. We know our work doesn’t have this special thing that we want it to have. We all go through this. And if you are just starting out or you are still in this phase, you gotta know its normal and the most important thing you can do is do a lot of work. Put yourself on a deadline so that every week you will finish one story. It is only by going through a volume of work that you will close that gap, and your work will be as good as your ambitions. And I took longer to figure out how to do this than anyone I’ve ever met. It’s gonna take awhile. It’s normal to take awhile. You’ve just gotta fight your way through. — Ira Glass (via bbbrad)
